You are absolutely right and bring up a good point David.

When people rapid-fire with their conversation it can easily lose the attention of their viewers, especially if the topic is not too interesting to them. But when there is a silence, it acts almost as a tiny recharge toward the viewer and gets the attention back to your message.

A great example is to imagine a room full of people listening to a speech. What we will see is that lots of people tend to NOT be listening to the speech and instead focus on other things like looking at what someone else is wearing, doing, etc.

BUT....when the speaker become totally silent, the audience and their attention quickly draws back to the speaker on stage...allowing them to refocus their attention on the speaker and the speakers message.

Great to see you back visiting my blog again David! -Jaclyn

Well thank you Marquita! I know what you mean - we also stumble across some videos that lack the quality in regards to sound, but what gets to me is the actual quality of the video...when it gets annoying to watch because it is very pixelated. IF the content is really good, i'll bare through the video by only listening to the audio so I can gain the most out of the topic.

Nice video tips, Jaclyn.

The non-verbal cues are especially important. In addition to the examples you gave, I'd like to encourage people to allow themselves quiet spots in their videos. You don't have to talk non-stop and rapid fire ALL the time. Sometimes... pause... think about what you're saying. Give a look, a nod, a sigh. That's natural. Non-stop talking is not.

Thanks Jaclyn, these are great tips! I want to compliment you on the quality of your video. SO often when I watch videos the quality is poor - especially the sound. For some reason people will put effort into the material, maybe even the quality of the way the video looks - and then the sound is either scratchy, or there's background noise, or even the volume is low. Well done!

Yes! It's so cliche but true: First impressions are everything!

It doesn't have to be your MOST important part of your day (to fix up) but a little goes a long way!

Thanks for visiting Stevie!

Hello Jaclyn,

Truly two important tips which need repeating over and over again and I have to admit that sometimes I am in awe that people choose to go into the business (or any) world not looking their best.

Thank you for your important video

Keep the smiles,
Stevie
